Aircraft Spotting at Aberdeen City's Airfields and Airports
ABERDEEN - TWR 118.1, APP 119.05, A/G 121.7
Northwest of city near Dyce, off A96. No
airside access but easy to see plenty of activity. The
spectators terrace (south of the terminal) and the farm road have
reopened and are within walking distance of the terminal.
There’s also a mound north of the terminal with good views.
There are two sides to Aberdeen airport, west and east. The
western side is where the terminal is, along with Eastern Airways,
CHC Scotia Helicopters and Bristow Helicopters hangars. On the
eastern side there is a crash gate on Kirton Avenue with views of the
very busy helicopter companies and views into the hangars if they are
open. Dyce train station has a bridge and a path that leads to
more hangars - Bond helicopters, Gama Aviation/Air ambulance.
Here you get decent views of the terminal and all hangers.
Hotels
The Speedbird Inn is best but book early as the
oil rigs block book. Room 404 has a view of the runway and is
fine in the autumn/winter but trees in full bloom in the summer will
obstruct your view. Room 402 is on the corner and may give a
view of the Bristow ramp and a view of the runway.

PETERCULTER-CULTER HELIPAD
Head west out of town on A93 and take the first right, signed Culter Helipad. Follow the signs (Culter Helipad or HJS Helicopters) from then on. Friendly and may provide an escort in to the hangar. Website http://www.hjshelicopters.co.uk/
